Neil Car, head of neighbourhoods, for Wokingham Borough Council said: “We have been made aware by Thames Valley Police and local veterinary practices that two dogs have died following a visit to Heathlake Local Nature Reserve, Crowthorne.

“Wokingham Borough Council has never put down poison of any kind at Heathlake and is continuing to work with the police and local veterinary practices to find out the cause of these incidents.

“The countryside service has been inspecting the site and will also be putting up posters today (Wednesday May 2) advising customers who use the site to keep all dogs on leads for the time being.”
