Wokingham new Health and Wellbeing Zone officially opened
0Members of the public, health professionals and support group representatives were among those who attended the official launch of the new Health and Wellbeing Zone at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre on March 11.
The Health and Wellbeing Zone is a brand new specialist gym run by Wokingham Borough Council for people with long term health conditions such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, stroke, physical disability, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cardiovascular disease. The gym will be open exclusively to patients who have been referred by their GP, physiotherapist, hospital consultant or community nurse, and will be fully supervised by qualified instructors.
Once referred to the gym, people will receive an induction on its specialist equipment, as well as on-going one-to-one appointments and drop in sessions to help them improve their health and fitness. The gym will cost just £2.50 for an hour.
Anyone wishing to find out more about the new Health and Wellbeing Zone should contact the borough council’s sports and leisure team on (0118) 974 3728 or email: [email protected].
