Wokingham StoryLab reading challenge

0

StoryLab hopes to inspire youngsters to read six or more books during the school holidays, receiving bronze, silver and gold stickers as they progress and a certificate and medal for those who complete the challenge.

The challenge is just one of many exciting schemes public libraries across the borough are developing to help children aged between five and 11 foster a love for reading, build confidence and learn new skills.

This year’s StoryLab themefeatures the characters Lex, Rani, Will and Evie. They are joined by Aesop, the ginger lab cat, to help Professor Cortex collect and share stories to inspire thousands of young imaginations.

There is also an interactive StoryLabwebsite – www.story-lab.org.uk – encouraging children to talk about their favourite books and reading experiences with top authors and illustrators.

StoryLab is an official project in the Cultural Olympiad’s London 2012 Festival. Set up by independent charity The Reading Agency, the challenge is now in its 14th year and reaches some 750,000 children every year via the UK library network.
